Water & Squats

In roller derby, derby stance is low.  The lower the better.   Get low so that:

A: The other team can’t hit you
B: If they DO hit you, you’re low and stable and don’t fall down
C: You go faster

The mantra in my head as I skate:  How LOW can ya go! How LOW can ya go!

This morning my day started with squats & lunges.   50 squats, 50 lunges (each side)

I’m still planning to meet the 100 pushup challenge – just not sure if I want to do pushups or burpees this morning. (Edited to add I did 20 pushups)

So my fellow derby peeps… how LOW can ya go!!! :p

And the water side of things?  It’s amazing how much better I feel starting with a bottle (refillable, metal LOL) of water rather than my usual coffee.  I feel more awake and more energetic.    I’m still looking forward to my coffee though 🙂

As a side note?  These ladies are practicing squats the WRONG way for derby – if you practice keeping your hands out in front of you – your balance only comes from having your hands out in front of you.

In derby – you skate with your hands at your side.
