I love the Four Lakes Trail. It’s an easy 7km hike, with ups and downs so you’re not always going up or always going down.
It passes by some beautiful lakes, a wonderful river where a picnic is in my future and I can let the dogs off leash for part of it.
It’s not as busy as the Chief – probably because it’s mostly in the forest. There’s no panoramic vistas to behold, just the joy of hiking.
It’s also a favourite of mountain bikers in this area. The GearJammer Bike race runs through part of it 🙂
By about 1/2 way, the boys were starting to complain. Andrew because he’d picked up this fairly large rock at the beginning of the trail and Luke because his feet hurt. I tied his shoes tighter and we carried on. He needs better shoes for hiking.
Andrew’s rock got passed around between all of us :p
We did it in about 2 hours. I’m sure that as I get in better shape, I will be able to do it faster, but it was a nice pace.
It started out a grey, overcast day, and by the time we got to Alice Lake, it was pouring…. we all got soaked, but had a good time.
Now – bath time.
Hot water, a book, and a coffee… ahhhhh… perfect interlude in a lovely day.
